Finding that construction material had been dumped indiscriminately on the footpath at Hoskerehalli Main Road, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner Siddaiah directed the officials to impose penalty on the building owners.
According to a press release here on Sunday, the public complained that the owners of Bangalore South Sports Club that is under construction, had dumped construction material on the footpath.
The officials were directed to levy a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on the owners, remove the material and claim reimbursement from the owners.
During his weekly night inspection, the Commissioner and a team of officials inspected Jayanagar, Lakshman Rao Boulevard, Kadirenahalli, Hoskerehalli, Mysore Road, Kalasipalyam, Shanthinagar, Hosur Road, HSR Layout, BTM Layout and JP Nagar.
At South End Circle, Mr. Siddaiah found that debris and other waste had been dumped on the footpath along the Namma Metro alignment. He directed officials to clear the waste and beautify the area.
With heavy vehicular movement on Mysore Road, there is little time in which the BBMP can take up repairs. He directed the officials to deploy more teams to repair the road surface and fill potholes in the available time.
Mr. Siddaiah inspected the 2.5-km road inside Jnana Bharati campus that is being laid at a cost of Rs. 12 crore. He directed the officials to ensure that the work is completed within two months.
He also instructed officials to form an action plan for the development of the historical Prof. P. Shivashankar Circle, near K.R. Market.
Inspecting Madiwala Market, he directed the officials to deploy an additional lorry and extra workforce to maintain cleanliness in the market. The market generates nearly 15 tonnes of waste. The officials were instructed to send the wet waste to the goshalas and compost the remaining waste.
Review meeting
During a review of revenue, major roads, lakes, forests and horticulture departments, the Commissioner instructed officials to draw up a plan for the projects worth Rs. 1,680 crore sanctioned by the government for 2012-13.
He directed officials to collect the balance of Rs. 1,377 crore property tax by March 2013.
He suggested that officials take up “drum beating” in front of the premises of defaulters and recover dues from them. Officials were instructed to bring more properties under the tax net and take action against defaulters.
Many builders have given an undertaking of paying improvement charges and obtained “B” Khata. Officials were instructed to collect the charges from them, besides revalidating the 15,000 commercial complexes under the BBMP limits. All zones must fix a target on tax collection and take steps to meet it by March 2013, failing which action will be initiated against the officials, he said.
Lakes
BBMP has developed 17 lakes and this year, 18 more will be developed at Rs. 50 crore. The tender process is expected to be completed by the end of this month. The Chief Conservator of Forests was directed to prepare detailed project reports for the development of 15 lakes.
