The seer of Siddaganga Math, Shivakumara Swami, was welcomed by hundreds of people including students, old students and devotees on Saturday evening on the premises of the math in Tumakuru city.
He arrived at around 5.30 p.m. and as soon as he got off from the car, the students clapped their hands with joy.
The seer was received by the peetadyaksha of the math, Siddalinga Swami, Deputy Commissioner K.P. Mohan Raj, Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy and other devotees. The seer got off from the car and walked inside.
One of the devotees said that though the doctors have advised him rest for three days, he may start meeting devotees from tomorrow.
Our Bengaluru Special Correspondent reports:
The seer, who was diagnosed with jaundice and a complete blockage in the bile duct, was discharged after a team of doctors in BGS Global Hospitals opened up the blockage this morning through an endoscopy. A stent has been implanted in the duct. His condition is stable, doctors said.
Chief Gastroenterologist Ravindra B.S. said the procedure was a challenging one for doctors as it had to be done in a sitting position. The 109-year-old seer cannot lie down, he said.
“Although the seer required more time to recuperate, he has been insisting on getting back to the math as he is missing out on his pooja and other rituals,” the doctor said. The seer will be closely monitored by a team of doctors at the math.
