Siddaganga Math seer Shivakumara Swami, who was diagnosed with jaundice and a complete blockage in the bile duct, was discharged on Saturday.

A team of doctors in BGS Global hospitals, who opened up the blockage on Saturday morning through an endoscopy, said a stent has been implanted in the duct. His condition is stable, doctors said.

Chief Gastroenterologist Ravindra B.S. said the procedure was a challenging one for doctors as it had to be done in a sitting position. The 109-year-old seer cannot lie down, he said.

“Although the seer required more time to recuperate, he has been insisting on getting back to the math as he is missing out on his pooja and other rituals," the doctor said. The seer will be closely monitored by a team of doctors at the math.
