Bengaluru: Seer of Siddaganga Mutt, 110-year-old Shivakumara Swami, has been discharged from the BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals in Kengeri. The seer was admitted to the hospital on Thursday infection in the lungs, gall bladder, liver, kidneys and pancreas, along with obstruction in the liver tube. He was also found to be suffering from jaundice, which had worsened.
According to an official statement from the hospital, after assessment from doctors, the team comprising of Dr. Ravindra B.S. and Dr. Kutappa (Chief of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care) decided to do an endoscopic stenting procedure to clear the blockage in the liver tube, placing stents in addition to the stents that were placed when he was last admitted at the hospital in May. The ERCP (Endoscopic) procedure conducted by the team was a challenge due to the presence of severe Scoliosis and his age. Swamiji withstood the procedure well, and was shifted to his suite thereafter, where his medical status was under constant observation overnight.
On Friday, after a review of his reports and condition he was discharged, as Swamiji insisted on returning to the Mutt. He has been advised rest and medications for the next few days and the treatment will continue under advice from the team at BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals, said a release.
