Shirisha is recovering at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

Shirisha is recuperating at a private hospital, but her parents are anxious, as the bullet has caused facial damage.

Her father B.R. Srinath is grateful that his daughter is alive and is now hoping that surgery will heal all her wounds. Mr. Srinath, an engineer, runs a nursing institute in Gowribidanur, while his wife, Jayanthi, is a doctor in Pavagada town.

Manipal Hospital Medical Director Sudarshan Ballal said the girl has a hairline fracture on the jaw, destruction of teeth, tongue and palette, and bottom of the nose. He said she would need more corrective surgeries for her facial features to return to normal.

Her parents have demanded a thorough probe into the incident and have asked the Bengaluru police to investigate the source of the weapon and also the background of Mahesh K.
