The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on Tuesday informed the High Court of Karnataka that different departments of the university will be shifted to Ramanagaram step by step only after its engineering department examines the availability of space at the Kandaya Bhavan and prepares a plan for utilisation of building for the university.

The statement was made in the preliminary objection filed by the university during the hearing of petitions, one seeking direction not to hasten the process of shifting and retain existing facilities in Bengaluru as additional campus and another against shifting of varsity’s headquarters to Ramanagaram.

At present, only the engineering department is being shifted and it would come out with a detailed plan and estimate before inviting tenders for arranging the building as per the requirement of various departments.

“In the process of shifting, it is the obligation on part of the university to see that the examination work, interest of students and day-to-day administration of the university is not hampered,” the university’s registrar said in the statement.

Justice A.S. Bopanna, before whom the petitions filed by principals of various medical and nursing institutes came up for hearing, said that after examining the contents of the statement, there is no need to pay any interim order at this stage and adjourned further hearing.
