Shankaramurthy leads group of children to Military Memorial Park

Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy along with a group of 30 children studying in Vasavi Vidyalaya, Shimoga, visited the National Military Memorial Park at the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain Park here on Thursday and paid their respects to the Unknown Soldier by laying wreaths.

The group was received by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena, senior officials of the BDA and members of the National Military Memorial Committee. The students, who were accompanied by schoolteachers, were in Bangalore to visit various heritage centres in and around the city.

Three of the primary school children rendered patriotic songs in Kannada and recited poems on preserving Independence and safeguarding the national integrity. A young student rendered a Kannada song with a message that “one should not expect what the country can give you, but one should thrive on what they can give to the country”.

Sadaf Banu, a class 3 standard, sang another Kannada song which emphasised on laying focus on building the nation for the future generations. The students also visited Vidhana Soudha, the High Court, the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium before visiting the National Military Memorial. Later, they visited Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.
