For art lovers across the city, Props, an exhibition of works of artist Malay Saha starting this weekend, is worth checking out. The artist's works consist mainly of acrylic on canvas that portray “props”, or household furniture.
Mr. Saha uses pieces of furniture as a metaphor for urban consumerism. “I have tried to comprehend the physical and social environment of city life with a sensitive mind,” he said.
“I have always had a keen interest in the portrayal of seemingly lifeless objects such as beds, sofas and curtains, which act like mere props but are equally impressive on their own.”
The exhibition will be on at Defence Colony in Indiranagar till July 23. For details, call 25272827 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
