Security guard held over ruckus at ATM kiosk

A security guard was arrested on Monday for creating a ruckus after going to an SBI ATM in Ulsoor to withdraw money in an inebriated state.

In the wee hours of Monday, Raju Devaraj (26), a resident of Challaghatta, started hitting the ATM machine after being unable to withdraw cash. Raju had who moved to the city five months ago from Assam.

According to the police, Raju visited the ATM kiosk around 2.30 a.m. and was visibly drunk. When the transaction failed to process, he began banging on the machine. The security guard stationed at the ATM, Abdul Kalam, objected to this behaviour and asked Raju to leave.

However, when Raju continued hitting the machine, Kalam quickly called the police. On hearing the call, Raju tried to run away, but he hit the door as well as a pole outside and collapsed.
