School to step up safety measures

July 22, 2014 12:39 am | Updated 12:39 am IST - BANGALORE:

After days of silence following the rape of the six-year-old girl, a representative of the school management on Monday said they would step up measures to ensure the safety of students.

Making a statement to protesters who had gathered under the banner of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Munir, a member of the school administration, said they would recruit more guards for security, particularly woman, and place CCTV cameras in every room of the school. “We are trying our best to solve the issue. These students are like our children,” he said.

Earlier, ABVP protesters tried to barge into the school after waiting for hours to meet school management. Police officers who were deployed outside the school had to resort to mild lathi-charge when ABVP activists tried to barge in the school by removing the barricade.
