Scarcity of staff in police department

May 31, 2016 06:29 pm | Updated 06:29 pm IST - Tumakuru

Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy has said that “our officers have convinced the police personnel to withdraw their leave applications by convincing them to go through a proper channel to address their grievances.”

He added less than 10 percent of the police personnel in the district are yet to withdraw their leave applications and as it is a disciplinary department proper procedure has to be followed.

Mr. Reddy said that he would submit a report on scarcity of police personnel in the district to the State government through the Director General of Police.

However, according to sources in the police department, out of 1,230 police constables in the district, 905 have applied for leave in their respective police stations.

They are yet to decide on withdrawal of their leave applications.
