Highest rainfall in November in 44 years

Saturday’s rain of 108.4 mm was the highest rainfall that the city had got in 44 years, according to the India Metrological Department’s statistics. IMD officials said that the rain had been the third highest since 1916. On Monday, the city received 2.4 mm of rainfall; however HAL airport recorded 43.6 mm from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. B. Puttanna, Director in charge of IMD Bangalore, said that cyclonic storm ‘Lehar’ over the Andaman coast could result in cloudy sky and rain in parts of Karnataka. The forecast for Tuesday for Bangalore is “generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain and thunder showers”.
