The annual event was held in National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, recently. RVCE students emerged the national champions at the vehicle designing championship in which 44 colleges participated.

The budding engineers call themselves ‘Team Helios Racing’. Their 164 kg four-wheeler was judged the best in acceleration, manoeuvrability, design and endurance, and scored the second place in hill climb and third in design, and first place overall.

B.S. Satyanarayana, principal of RVCE, said the vehicle was built at a cost of Rs. 6.5 lakh and the ATV could be used for agriculture purposes, like seed sowing, fertilization and at mining sites.

Team leader Alok Kulkarni said, “We have done a lot of testing to make the car a reliable one. It has been built using sound engineering techniques and designing processes. Every year, we excel and try to improve in the designing of the car to fetch honour to our institution and the nation.”
