Ruby developers have eventful weekend

The budding Ruby developers' community in India had a busy weekend. With the first ever Ruby Conference being organised in Bangalore, by ThoughtWorks Technologies, the meet saw experts from the Ruby communities from across the world.

For the uninitiated, Ruby is an open source, dynamic programming language particularly significant in the development of Web 2.0. Community projects like Ruby on Rails, a powerful web application framework for development, is used by popular web names such as Twitter and Shopify.

Popular speakers

Ola Bini of JRuby fame, Obie Fernandez, pioneering developer of The Rails Way and Brendan G. Lim, Director, Mobile Solutions at Intridea were some of the speakers very popular with the audience. However, the high point of the two-day event was a simple video call with the legendary Yukihiro “Matz” Matsumoto, the creator of Ruby, who addressed and inspired the community with his short talk
