May 23, 2014 11:45 pm | Updated 11:45 pm IST - Bangalore:

Each of the 198 wards under the BBMP will be provided Rs. 1 lakh each for four months this monsoon for maintenance works.

BBMP Standing Committee Chairman on ward-level works A.H. Basavaraj said each ward of the BBMP will be given a grant of Rs. 1 lakh for four months beginning June to take up pre-monsoon precautionary maintenance works and for emergency work during the rains.

Control rooms in addition to the ones in each zone will be set up in each office of the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE). “The grants will cover all requirements ranging from raincoats for the eight-member gang to motors that pump out water in case of inundation,” he said.
