A 35-year-old alleged rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death by an armed gang in old Bangalore area coming under Kadugondanahalli on Sunday morning.
The deceased Daniel, a notorious rowdy of KG Halli with nine criminal cases pending against him, had beaten up a woman when she objected to his unruly behaviour in house that was mourning the death of a woman last night.
According to the police, Daniel in an inebriated state, went to the house where a woman had died, and forced the family members to play Tamil songs and started dancing. Irritated with his behaviour, a woman from the neighbourhood asked him to leave the place. Incensed over this, Daniel beat up the woman in public and later went home.
The family members of the woman, who was beaten up, went to Daniel’s house and called him out on the pretext of partying. An unsuspecting Daniel went with them. But, the gang reportedly offered him alcohol and when Daniel was sloshed after consuming alcohol, the gang hacked him to death and fled the scene.
The KG Halli police rushed to the spot and took few people into custody in connection with the murder.
As the news of murder spread like a wildfire, family members and friends of Daniel blocked the roads in protest demanding action against the perpetrators. The KG Halli police deployed additional force in the area to monitor untoward incidents.
“We have taken few persons into custody and investigations are on to ascertain whether there is any other motive behind the murder”, the police said.
