An armed gang hacked a 40-year-old rowdy to death at Talaghattapura on Monday night.

The deceased Raghu, alias Tablet Raghu, was returning home along with four friends in a car after visitng a temple.

The gang intercepted the car at 100 ft Road, Talaghattapura, pulled Raghu out of the car and hacked him to death. In the melee, Raghu's friend, identified as Madhu, was injured, while three of his friends escaped.

Priliminary investigations revealed that the murder was due to personal rivalry. The police suspect it to be the handiwork of another rowdy Vajra.

Raghu, who had over 10 criminal cases pending against him, was a rowdy sheeter in Kumaraswamy Layout. He was married one-and-half years ago and had started working as a real estate agent.

A special team has been formed to nab the assailants who are on the run, the police said.
