Roof collapses, two labourers injured

Two labourers were injured after the roof of an under construction three storeyed building collapsed on them on Thursday morning in Girinagar police limits. The construction of the residential complex has been taken up by the Karnataka Slum Development Board.

The police identified the injured as Ramesh Singh (20) and Ashok (34), both labourers from Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, at around 11.45 a.m., the roof suddenly collapsed on the workers at the construction site. The police attributed this to sub-standard work.

The incident came to light when the fellow workers the labourers’ screams and ran to help them. They also alerted the police, who rushed to the spot.

The Girinagar police have booked a case of negligence against the supervisor and contractor and probe is underway.
