Aerospace major Rolls-Royce plans to set up a new facility in Bengaluru and hire 500 engineers by the end of 2017, the company said in a press release.
Rolls-Royce operates and manages two engineering service centres in Bengaluru; one with QuEST, and another one with TCS.
The new centre will be the company's standalone facility in India. It will focus on aerospace engineering for customers in the region as well as support for Rolls-Royce’s regional supplier base. It will also include development of new tools and technologies that make best use of local capabilities.
Commenting on the development, Kishore Jayaraman, president – India & South Asia, Rolls-Royce said, “Our plans to expand our capabilities here is testament to India’s talented engineering workforce and strongly supports our growth strategy in India. The government here is fully committed to the development of the aerospace industry by providing the right infrastructure, talent and a conducive business environment for industry to thrive.”
The expansion in India will allow Rolls-Royce to be closer to its customers as well as maintain its competitiveness in the market.
“The new facility will have no direct impact on the relationships with existing partners IAMPL, Quest or TCS,” the statement added.
