Road-widening: ‘let there be one stand'

August 14, 2010 01:10 pm | Updated 01:10 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The divergent statements made by Ministers on road-widening has created confusion among the public, M. Nagaraj, Leader of the Opposition in BBMP Council, has said.

In a release, Mr. Nagaraj said the statement of Mayor S.K. Nataraj that road-widening would stop had brought relief to the people, who were worried about losing part of their property for the exercise.

A few days later, Ministers Katta Subramanya Naidu and R. Ashok gave statements supporting road-widening, while Arvind Lambavali opposed it.

He said Ministers should speak in one voice on issues affecting people. “I appeal to the Ministers and the Mayor to hold a joint press conference and issue a unanimous statement and drive out the uncertainty in the minds of public,” Mr. Nagaraj said.
