The widening of Hosur Road stretch between Shoolay Circle to the Forum Mall junction suffered a minor setback on Monday.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials, who went to demolish two unauthorised properties on that stretch, faced some resistance from residents who claimed their properties were authorised and legal.
Following this, the authorities decided to verify the residents’ claims and then resume the demolition work. According to a BBMP official, there are some issues with the acquisition process as the 4-km stretch comes under both East and South zones.
“As many as 81 properties have to be acquired for widening. Of these, the process has begun for 47 properties coming under South Zone. Some property owners under East Zone have agreed for TDR (Transfer of Development Rights), while others will be acquired,” he said.
Part of the property belonging to the Army (Rashtriya Military School) will be required. Road widening has been completed between Audugodi Circle and the Forum Mall. “As per the Revised Master Plan 2015, the road has to be widened to 30 metres,” he said.

I am one of the victim who fall under this Road widening project. Our home is an legally authorized property with tax paid till date. We are not opposing for the government land acquisition for road widening on the interest of city development, but waiting for at least Transferable development Certificate as compensation and a legal notice. Surprise Demolition Drive is not at digestible.. So i kindly request concerned personnel's to act smart and do things smoothly...
