The much-awaited annual Chitra Santhe will be inaugurated by Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat here on Sunday.
The ninth edition of the event, organised by the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (KCP) is expected to see a turnout of over 2 lakh people.
Minister for Kannada and Culture Govind M. Karjol, MP P.C. Mohan and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda will participate in the inaugural function.
The public will be able to pick art works that catch their eye besides interacting with the artists themselves.
The santhe is also a platform to encourage upcoming artists, said C.N. Rudrappa, the parishath's chief administrative officer.
Traffic restrictions
With the Chitra Santhe spreading itself on Kumara Krupa Road, the Bangalore Traffic Police will cordon off and ban traffic on the entire stretch between Shivananda Circle and Windsor Square on Sunday.
The High Grounds traffic police have provided the alternative routes for motorists. BMTC buses will ply on Race Course Road, towards Basaveshwara Circle, then High Grounds junction before reaching Windsor Square.
Motorists bound for Windsor Square from Shivananda Circle can take Race Course Road and go via Basaveshwara Circle. Those who need to reach Shivananda Circle from BDA headquarters can drive through LRDE Circle.
