Scores of students staged a protest at Mysore Bank Circle on Tuesday against the State government’s decision to shift the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) campus to Ramanagaram.

R. Amit, a medical student who was at the forefront of one of the protests, said that soon after the examinations, they have to visit the administrative block if there were errors in the evaluation process. “Shifting without basic preparation will be detrimental to the functioning of the university. It is also against the interests of students,” he said.

Pooja S., another student, said that it would be difficult for students to travel to Ramanagaram. “They can shift the hospital and research centre, but not the administrative block,” she said.

Shifting the campus was first mooted in 2007. The engineering division was shifted on Sunday to the Kandaya Bhavan in Ramanagaram.

Earlier, the governor had raised concerns about shifting the varsity in the middle of the academic year.
