Revised pay not implemented for teachers

April 05, 2010 12:05 pm | Updated 12:13 pm IST - Bangalore:

Though the State Government has notified the revised University Grants Commission pay scale for the benefit of teachers, it is yet to implement the pay scale.

In a press release here, the Bangalore University Teachers' Council has said that the Government had notified the revised pay scale through an order on December 24, 2009.

The council has claimed that due to inordinate delay by both the Department of Higher Education and the Department of Finance, the pay scale has not been implemented.

“We fail to understand why the Government has not been able to implement its own order,” it said. The council has, therefore, decided to go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday to bring this issue to the notice of the Government and urge it to implement the pay scale immediately.
