A two-year-old boy was killed when a car being taken in the reverse ran over him while he was playing in front of his house on Old Airport Road on Saturday.

Muniya, son of Selvam and Kasturi, who are construction labourers from Tamil Nadu, was living in a makeshift tent on the vacant site in Ramesh Nagar. While Selvam had been to work, Kasturi was preparing dinner, leaving Muniya to play outside. The car driver, who dropped his employer home, ran over Muniya while taking the car in the reverse.

Muniya, who sustained injuries, was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead. The Old Airport road traffic police have registered a case.

In another incident, Pradeep Kumar Gowda (24), a native of Kanakapura, was killed on the spot when he rammed his autorickshaw to an electric pole in J.P. Nagar on Saturday. The Jayanagar traffic police have registered a case.
