December 27, 2014 03:11 pm | Updated 03:11 pm IST - Bengaluru:

In the light of requests from hotels and restaurants in the city to keep their bars open beyond midnight on New Year’s Eve, the City police have granted permission to keep them open till 2 a.m. on January 1, 2015.

The managements of bars will be required to obtain permission from the State Excise Department to keep them open during the additional hours. The order is also applicable to hotels, eateries and restaurants that do not serve alcohol and these establishments will not require special permission from the Excise Department to be kept open.

Owners or managers of all the establishments need not individually apply for a no-objection certificate as a copy of this notification will be sent to the Excise Commissioner as well as to all the Deputy Commissioners of Excise. This notification will serve as a NOC for all bars serving liquor. The police has also advised establishments to take precautions to ensure no nuisance is caused in the vicinity of their premises.
