Residents to protest transfer of official

June 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:48 pm IST - Bengaluru:

The transfer of Subodh Yadav from his post of BBMP’s Special Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) to secretary to the Karnataka Public Service Commission has not gone down well with social activists, who are planning to protest on Sunday.

While residents of HSR Layout will be staging protest at the BDA complex in HSR Layout in the morning, a protest in the evening will be staged in front of Town Hall.

“He was bringing in transformational change in managing waste and was moving towards using more technology in managing waste as well as holding officials accountable. He was transparent and accessible to citizens,” said Kavita Reddy, an organiser of the protest and member of “Hasiru Mitra” — an association of volunteers in HSR Layout and Somasundarapalya.

Meanwhile, Mr. Yadav chose not to express any disaffection over the transfer, stating that it was the decision of the government while interacting with the citizens.

Mr. Yadav was not available for a comment.
