Bengaluru engineer Ravi Kumar T., one of the 150 Indians stranded in a hotel in Sana'a, said they were all ready to take a flight to India.
On late Tuesday night, Embassy officials informed them that they would call them the next day and that they must reach the airport within an hour of the call.
Bandh call
Meanwhile, at least five industry associations in Bengaluru have called for a bandh on Thursday to protest against the government's slow response in evacuating Indians from Yemen. Ravi Kumar's brother Shiva Kumar is spearheading the protest.
Bhatkal family sets to sail
The family of Yunus Shabandari, a rice exporter from Bhatkal, boarded the ship bound for Djibouti in the Horn of Africa from the Sana'a port, on Tuesday. It includes his wife and three children. However, Mr. Shabandari's cousin Shaeeq Ruknuddin, who had joined him in the business eight months back, could not join them.
Mr. Ruknuddin said 300 Indians had arrived there to board the ship, which could take in only 170.
Those with families were taken on board on priority and this left out Mr. Ruknuddin.
