Reporter’s Diary

Shooting stars

The recent BBMP council meeting provided ample fodder for reporters, with protests leading to pushing and shoving. Interestingly, the guards in the visitors’ gallery tried to minimise damage by asking those present not to take photographs or videos, oblivious of the cameras of TV channels and professional cameramen shooting away in the press gallery at the opposite end.

Calls lead to a story

This reporter was desperately trying to call an official in one of the civic agencies for a story recently. Unable to get through for several hours, he had nearly given up when he came across a message on a WhatsApp groups that explained why. The officer did not have his phone with him. The reason: his house was being searched by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and all communication channels had been taken away by the sleuths.
