Rein in private schools: parents

May 29, 2013 08:16 am | Updated 08:16 am IST - BANGALORE:

The Bangalore Schools’ Parents Association has demanded a uniform fee structure across all unaided private schools. Members on Wednesday said that they would approach the High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday on this matter, and demanded that action be taken against schools being run illegally.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, association president A.R Ashok Kumar Adiga claimed that 42 per cent of the ICSE and CBSE schools were being run illegally, many without affiliation.

Based on a writ petition filed by a group of parents, the High Court had directed the Department of Public Instruction to set up a committee comprising the stakeholders, including school managements, representatives of teachers and parents organisations, CBSE and ICSE boards, to find a solution.

Boycott

Though a seminar was conducted by the Department of Public Instruction in this connection, Mr. Adiga said that the department’s unilateral moves to form various groups without including members from the parents’ association led to the latter boycotting the seminar.
