Vehicle users travelling through the Central Business District had to put up with huge traffic snarls in the blazing summer heat on Thursday morning after leaders of the opposition parties took out a rally from different parts of the city protesting against the proposed trifurcation of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Traffic movement on J.C. Road, K.G. Road, Seshadripuram, Vatal Nagaraj Road, Palace Road, Anand Rao Circle till K.R. Circle was disrupted when the protestors took out a march towards Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the Governor.

In another part of town, a private bus lost control and rammed into the roadside pole near Esteem Mall in Hebbal, causing traffic chaos. Traffic on both directions was disrupted for more than an hour while the traffic police tried removing the pole which fell on a goods autorickshaw. Though no casualties were reported, traffic movement to the busy International Airport was the worst hit.
