Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi faced some embarrassing moments while addressing students at the Mount Carmel College here.

Television recordings of the closed-door event showed he got a resounding “Yes” from students when he asked them if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign had had an impact.

Taken aback, he persisted and asked them again “if they were sure”. But, a majority of them still seemed to say “Yes”. Mr. Gandhi said: “Well... I don’t see Swachh Bharat working very well.”

The Congress leader went on to try his luck with a similar question on the ‘Make in India’ campaign; this time there was a mixed response. Finally, he got the negative response he wanted when he asked students if youngsters were getting jobs.
