* Students have to be committed, fractional attention to art forms or getting hooked to the social media will not help in becoming a ‘complete artiste’.

* In 1961, after my Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha at the Raj Bhavan in [the then] Bangalore, I waited with bated breath to know the general consensus from the cultural bigwigs, who collectively judged and gave the ‘green signal’ to proceed. That was the kind of discipline we followed.

* Indian classical dance and music should be part of school and college curriculum as it helps students to remain focussed in studies.

* Spreading art awareness should be central to an artiste. In the 35 years of my association with SPIC MACAY, where succeeding generations of students are audiences, I haven’t charged them anything.
