The Karnataka High Court on Monday advised the city police to pursue with all seriousness the investigation into the disappearance of Kumar Ajitabh, a software engineer. Ajitabh has not been seen after leaving his home on December 18, 2017 apparently to meet a person who was interested in purchasing his car. The techie had posted an advertisement on an online portal offering his car for sale.
Justice A.S. Bopanna made this observation when the government counsel, during the hearing of a petition filed by Ajitabh’s father seeking a probe by the CBI, informed the court that eight teams with 60 personnel have been constituted to trace the missing techie, but no lead has been found so far.
The court observed that it is ‘every day’s agony’ for the father as he is unable to know the status of his son.
Earlier, the government counsel submitted a report to the court indicating the efforts being made by the police team to gather information about Ajitabh’s whereabouts.
Ajitabh, an employee of British Telecom, had put an advertisement in November last year on OLX offering to sell his Maruti Suzuki Ciaz car.
The petitioner, Ashok Kumar Sinha, said that his son wanted to sell the car to partly fund his higher studies as Ajitabh had secured admission in IIM Calcutta. The petitioner suspected that his son may have been kidnapped by an organised gang.
