Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan celebrated its diamond jubilee with a puppet festival organised by the Dhaatu group over the last three days here.

The event included performances by Dhaatu, based on various mythological tales. The festival that began on April 12 featured a performance based on Bhakta Prahlada. The second day saw Ashtavakra, and the event concluded with Vijayanagara Vaibhava.

The troupe also performed a “magic hour of puppetry”, and the Surpanakha Prasanga. “We never expected this kind of turnout and such response. Children, who were apparently excited, have brought their parents here,” said V. Muralidhar, one of the organisers, according to a press release. The event was held at the Purandara Bhavan, Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha.
