N. Mukund, member of Jayanagar Residents’ Welfare Association, has sought a public consultation on the Namma Metro’s Phase II alignment.
Mr.Mukund maintained that public projects of this scale could be executed only if all the stakeholders were on board, for which a public consultation was essential.
Citing the example of the Bangalore Development Authority’s signal-free corridor between Sirsi Circle to Agara via Koramangala, he said that the High Court, in response to a writ petition filed by Citizens Action Forum, had directed the government to constitute a committee with traffic experts and affected citizens.
The committee, after due consultation, dropped the project.
“The same example can be followed in this case as well with the government constituting a committee of experts, residents and BMRCL officials. This committee could look into the feasibility and alternatives of the project,” he suggested.
