The police detained nearly a hundred protesters, members of various pro-Kannada groups, who tried to storm into key installations in the city to mark the bandh on Saturday.
Around 50 Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists barged into the Kempegowda International Airport and tried to disrupt operations, said a senior police officer.
The protesters allegedly managed to enter the airport around 5 a.m. and reached the passenger counter before the police intervened.
Another group of KRV activists, tried to barge into the Raj Bhavan, shouting slogans against the Union government and seeking its intervention in the Mahadayi row.
Later in the day, a large number of protesters belonging to various organisations staged a protest at the Mysore Bank Circle and burnt effigies of 28 MPs from the State, venting their ire on the leaders for allegedly being silent on the Mahadayi issue.
There were reports of minor protest-related incidents from around the city. At Gandhinagar, a few protesters pelted stones at an ATM.
