Amid the shock expressed by rationalists and scientific thinkers across the country over the murder of Narendra Dhabolkar, who was shot dead in Pune, Maharashtra, on Tuesday, Samudaya, Karnataka State Vigyana Parishat and Karnataka Vicharavadigala Sangha staged a protest to condemn the murder and condoled his death at the BDA Complex in Banashankari.

The protesters said the country’s scientific temperament was under threat from those promoting blind beliefs. It was time for all rational and scientific thinkers to unite.

They called upon the government to act against such incidents, besides promoting a scientific temperament. The protesters have resolved to intensify their struggle against blind beliefs in the State and bring in a model Bill based on the one prepared by Mr. Dhabolkar in Maharashtra.

In a memorandum submitted to the Maharashtra government, the protesters have demanded that the culprits be identified and punished.
