Proclaimed offender shot at in Bangalore

A 32-year-old proclaimed offender was shot at by city police on Friday night when he tried to attack the police and escape.

The accused Jayaram has 14 criminal cases pending against him and was hoodwinking the police by jumping bail.

A massive manhunt had been on to arrest him.

On Friday night, K P Agrahara police got a tip off that Jayaram had come to a house on Magadi Road to attend a function. A team of police led by inspector Pradeep rounded him up, but Jayaram tried to attack the police with lethal weapons in a bid to escape.

Inspector Pradeep, who was injured during the incident, fired at Jayaram. The offender was injured and taken to Victoria hospital for surgery.

The Hebbal police had nabbed another offender Samu by firing at him two days ago at Rajanukunte in the city.
