A 35-year-old priest died after he fell from the terrace of a three-storey residential building at Doddanekundi in HSR Layout on Saturday morning at 3.30 a.m. Raghvendra, a priest with the Sri Rama temple, lived with his family on the third floor of the building but decided to sleep on the terrace with his wife and nine-year-old son that night, because of the heat.

The police believe that Raghvendra was trying to get to the bathroom in his apartment. Instead of taking the stairs, he decided to scale the terrace wall and climb in through the apartment window. His son, who was awake at the time, warned him of the danger as the rear portion of the terrace – from where he was climbing – was under construction and did not have a parapet.

Raghvendra returned when his son called him, but once the boy was asleep, attempted the climb, and fell. The incident came to light around 5.30 a.m. The HSR Layout police have registered a case of unnatural death.
