Pride March, Karnataka Queer habba on Sunday

Coalition for Sex Workers and Sexual Minority Rights will organise a “pride march” and Karnataka Queer Habba-2014 on Sunday from City Railway Station to Chandrashekar Azad Ground in Malleswaram.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Archana Shetty, a member of the Coalition said the march is being organised to end violence and oppression based on gender identity and sexual orientation and discrimination and rejection at home, at the place of work. Ms. Shetty said Pride is a positive sign, “We want to raise our voice, we are important part of the society.”

The march will commence from City Railway Station at 2 p.m. After the procession reaches Malleswaram, few members of the Coalition will speak on how the State is violating the sexual minority and will demand the State Government several issues including setting up of Transgender Welfare Board, make an amendment to Section 377 and speedy implementation of Supreme Court Judgment on transgender rights, said transgender and sexual minority’s activist Ms. Akkai Padmashali.
