Several areas of East Bengaluru went without power supply for hours on Thursday morning, due to a technical fault at the Hoody station.

According to information provided by the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company, the power disruption was caused by a flash over in the station.

Metro services disrupted

The services of Namma Metro trains on the Purple Line were disrupted for 10 minutes due to power fluctuation between 9.26 a.m. and 9.27 a.m. According to U.A. Vasant Rao, spokesperson of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., authorities decided to stop the trains at the stations along the Purple Line to prevent any inconvenience to the commuters. “The trains will stop suddenly if the power supply drops to less than 750 volts. We waited for the power to stabilise and resumed the services thereafter,” he said.

Some of the major areas affected included, Hoody, Whitefield, K.R. Puram, ITI, Banaswadi, Lingarajapuram, ITPL area, Kundalahalli, EPIP, Kadugodi, Kadubeesanahalli, Cessna Park, Marathahalli, M.G.
