According to sources, the 25,000 W cable that supplies power to engines, snapped and fell on Duronto Express, which was coming to the city from Howrah, near the locomotive shed at 3.45 p.m.

The departure of Brindavan Express and the Bangalore–Chennai air-conditioned Double Decker Express and the arrival of Duronto Express to the city were delayed by two hours, according to Railway officials.

However, passengers at the K.R. Puram station said they had to wait for several hours.
