The city police have deputed videographers in and around sensitive areas to record public celebration of Ganesh festival so that a tab can be kept on violations.

Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji told presspersons here on Tuesday that all the city police force had been deployed for security duty.

The personnel on security duty would be in plainclothes to monitor law and order and help identify mischief-mongers.

In addition to official videographers, the police have also hired private videographers to record events, Mr. Mirji said.

He said loud speakers were permitted only between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. He warned those demanding donations for the festival. He urged people to minimise the use of crackers.
