The High Grounds police broke up a rain dance party at the Lalit Ashok on Holi day after neighbours complained about the noise.

The hotel is situated next to the Chief Minister’s official residence.

The High Grounds police, who went to the spot, found that the organisers have to taken permission to play loud music. “We found speakers blaring music placed outside the party venue. We warned the organisers against it and they complied. Since no one filed a formal complaint we have not registered a case,” a police official said.

Tension over banners

Tension prevailed among Bharatiya Janata Party workers in Nandini Layout for a while here Wednesday when some people tore down the huge flexes and banners at the new party office for the upcoming Assembly polls.

Former Deputy Mayor S. Harish said the incident happened at around 2.30 a.m. When The Hindu pointed out that such a display of posters violated the code of conduct, Mr. Harish parried the question.

Nandini Layout police said no formal complaint had been lodged.
