The Hebbagodi police investigating the murder of the 70-year-old Air Commodore, Parvez Khokhar (retd.), suspect that more than one person was involved.

“He was a strong man and we suspect more than one person was involved as it would have required some effort to pin him down,” said an investigating official. The assailants had gained entry by breaking open the door on the first floor of the house, police said.

There are two rooms each on the ground and first floor. The assailants ransacked a room on the first floor and the room in Mr. Khokhar was murdered. However, his wife, Pramila Khokhar, told the police that no valuables were missing. Police suspect that the murder took place after midnight as Ms. Khokhar had gone to bed around 11.30 p.m. Their house is one of the many villas situated in the coffee estate that is spread over an area of about 10,000 sq ft. There is dense vegetation around the houses, including coffee plants and coconut trees.

While there are CCTV cameras at the main gate, there are no cameras around the house, the police said. The security guards at the main gate told the police that they did not see anyone entering at night. However, officials said the back compound wall was not very high and suspect that the assailants may have climbed over.
