A notorious rowdy-sheeter was shot in his leg by the South East police Thursday evening at Koramangala.

Viveknagar resident George (27), wanted by the Koramangala police as he is facing 11 criminal cases, was spotted at Mestripalya near the Koramangala BDA Complex. A team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madivala Subdivision) Subbanna surrounded the house where he was holed up, asking him to surrender.

Sources said George emerged with a machete and attacked constable Suresh. At this, Sub-Inspector Nataraj opened fire in the air while Sub-Inspector Prashanth Babu aimed at his legs.

While constable Suresh was admitted in St. John’s Hospital, George was taken to Victoria Hospital. Both are in a stable condition.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) P.S. Harsha said George is the son of notorious rowdy Palani, who was brutally murdered by a rival gang, posing as visitors, in his hospital bed at Hosmat in 2006. DCP Harsha said George also followed his father’s criminal career.
