Though the Anekal Taluk Hospital formally submitted on Thursday the post-mortem report of Satwik Shastri, the 24-year-old IT professional believed to have been trampled to death by a wild elephant in the Ragihalli forest area in Bannerghatta National Park last weekend, the Bannerghatta police are seeking additional details to help its investigation into the cause and circumstances of the death.
According to the police, Dr. Ramachandrappa, the medical officer of Anekal Taluk Hospital, had stated the cause of death due to shock and haemorrhages as a result of injuries sustained.
Post-mortem report
Asked if the post-mortem report contained any reference to an elephant attack, a senior police officer said the reports generally don’t contain such details. “Only when we ask for certain details, do the medical officers provide them.”
Additional details
Hence the police sought additional details to ascertain if Satwik’s death was indeed caused by an elephant attack, the official added.
