Special teams of the Tamil Nadu police are hunting for a suspect involved in the Bangalore explosion near Chennai. Investigators tracking the owner of the motorcycle used to trigger the blast headed to Kancheepuram late on Wednesday night on the lookout for a youth, sources in the State intelligence said.
Though the registration number on the motorcycle was found to be a fake one, the police traced its owner with the help of the engine number.
Since the details of ownership were not available with the Transport department, police went to the motorcycle manufacturing company in Hosur where they got the dealer’s address and subsequently the buyer’s.
The two-wheeler was registered in the name of R. Prakash of Kattabomman Street in New Perungalathur near here.
When the police reached there, Prakash claimed that he had sold his motorcycle to a person from Kancheepuram a few months ago.
“We have information that the person hails from Vellore. But the address found in the driving licence referred to Kancheepuram, which could be either fake or temporary … the vehicle remains in the name of Prakash,” a senior police official told The Hindu . Teams of the Special Branch CID of the State police are coordinating with the Karnataka police and the Intelligence Bureau.
