Police inspector stabbed while arresting accused

A notorious thief wanted in connection with a murder case was injured when a police inspector fired at him after he resisted arrest here today, police said.

When a police team tried to arrest Namraz Thapa Bahadur, hailing from Nepal, he stabbed police inspector Mohammad Rafi, who opened fire from his service revolver, they said.

“Rafi is out of danger while Bahadur has to be operated upon for bullet injuries,” they said.

According to police, the accused while resisting the arrest attacked the police inspector with a dagger.

Thapa, a notorious thief, along with his four aides was involved in the murder of a security guard of a house, which they tried to loot recently, police said.

Four of Thapa’s associates were arrested two days ago.
